What is a large language model (LLM)?
A large language model, or LLM, is the technology behind tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. It is software trained on huge amounts of text, so it can understand questions and write answers in everyday language.
Also called: LLM
How does it know about my business?
An LLM learns from text it was trained on, and many AI tools also search the internet at the moment you ask. So what it says about your business can come from both: older information it learned, and pages it finds live.
An example
When you ask Claude which accountant to use, the model writes the answer. If web search is switched on, it may also read a few websites first and base its answer on them.
Why it matters
Because LLMs learn from what is written about you online, out-of-date or inconsistent information can stick around in their answers. Keeping your details accurate everywhere is the best defence.
