What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a simple text file placed on a website, at an address like yoursite.com/llms.txt, that summarises the business and points to its most important pages. It is a proposed way to help AI tools understand a site quickly.
Do AI tools use it?
It is a newer, proposed standard, and support varies between AI tools. It is quick to add and does no harm, but it is not a magic switch. Clear, accurate pages on your website matter far more.
An example
Our own site has one at saidso.agency/llms.txt. It lists what we do, where we are based, our services and our key pages in plain text.
What should it include?
A short description of your business, the facts you want AI to get right (name, location, services) and links to your most important pages. Keep it consistent with everything else on your site.
